An app can reach many countries with only a few transactions, or build a strong business in one region. Global reach measures breadth; revenue and retention measure depth. Keep those dimensions separate, then combine them when making market decisions.
Five useful global-reach metrics
1. Countries reached
The lifetime number of transaction countries with at least one qualifying production subscription or purchase.
2. Active markets
Reached countries that currently have qualifying subscription access. Comparing active with lifetime reach shows how much of the footprint is present-tense.
3. Continents reached
A coarse but motivating breadth signal. It is useful for milestones, not for deciding which country deserves investment.
4. New countries per period
The pace at which the footprint expands. Review monthly rather than reacting to every isolated purchase.
5. Portfolio contribution
Which apps add unique countries, share the same markets, or have the broadest individual footprint.
Publish the definition
State that country refers to transaction or store information from RevenueCat. Exclude sandbox tests, fully refunded purchases, and unconverted trials. Preserve legitimate historical countries so churn does not erase lifetime reach.
Recommended wording: “Our apps have received qualifying production subscriptions from 23 transaction countries across five continents; 16 markets are currently active.”

Turn breadth into a better question
A newly reached market can prompt research: Is conversion repeating? Is revenue material? Do reviews mention language? Is retention healthy? Would localization improve the product? Use Reachly to notice the country, then use deeper analytics and customer evidence to decide what it means.
That division keeps the passport joyful and the business analysis rigorous.
