How to track RevenueCat subscriptions by country

Separate permanent market reach from current subscription activity, and keep sandbox, refund, and trial noise out of the picture.

A single “countries” number hides two different stories. Your reached footprint asks whether a qualifying subscription has ever come from a country. Your active footprint asks which of those markets still have qualifying active access. Track both and you will understand expansion without letting churn rewrite history.

Use a two-state market model

Reached or historical

Once a legitimate production purchase unlocks a country, keep it in the long-term footprint. This is the geographic equivalent of a lifetime milestone.

Active

A country is active when a current qualifying subscription still contributes to it. Active status is useful for present-tense monitoring, while the permanent stamp shows the full journey.

Do not call either state customer location. The underlying country represents transaction or store context, not a live physical position.

Exclude records that distort reach

Test purchases can make a new app look international before it launches. Trials can create a country that never converts. Full refunds reverse the qualifying purchase. Build your country tracker around production records that represent real access and retain an auditable definition.

  • Ignore sandbox environments.
  • Do not unlock a stamp from an unconverted trial.
  • Exclude a fully refunded purchase.
  • Require a supported country value.
  • Deduplicate records before aggregating.

Track countries in Reachly

  1. Connect one or more RevenueCat projects with read-only access.
  2. Select the apps you want in the developer passport.
  3. Allow Reachly to reduce records to local fingerprints and country summaries.
  4. Open the Passport to compare total countries, active markets, continents, subscriptions, and years.
  5. Open the Map and toggle historical countries to switch between lifetime and active reach.
  6. Filter by app to see which product contributes to each market.

When a newly qualifying country appears, Reachly can trigger a stamp ceremony and journey notification. That turns a quiet backend event into an understandable growth moment.

Report the result honestly

Use language such as “subscriptions have reached 18 transaction countries” or “12 active markets across four continents.” Avoid “users live in 18 countries,” because the data cannot establish residence.

For financial reporting, return to RevenueCat and the app stores. Reachly's country counts and share cards are a product-growth and portfolio layer, not accounting statements.

Keep every real market in your story.
